Why your birth chart differs between sites: 6 real reasons
Different Ascendant, houses or signs? Most discrepancies come from settings, not the planets.
You enter your details on two sites and get two different Ascendants. That's not necessarily an error: most gaps come from settings, not from the planets themselves.
The 6 causes of a different chart
1. Birth time
Ten minutes shifts the Ascendant by 2–3 degrees, sometimes into the next sign. Make sure you entered the exact same time everywhere.
2. Time zone and daylight saving
The most common culprit. Daylight-saving rules have changed many times across countries and decades. A tool with poor time-zone history shifts the whole chart by an hour.
3. Birthplace
Exact coordinates matter for the Ascendant and houses. A nearby town gives a close result; a wrong town with the same name doesn't.
4. House system
Placidus, Koch, Whole Sign… each divides the sky differently. Your planets stay in the same signs but may change houses.
5. Zodiac
Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac; Vedic astrology uses the sidereal one. Today the gap is about 24° — almost a full sign.
6. Calculated points
True or mean lunar node, true or mean Lilith: two conventions, two results.
How to tell which chart is right
If the planets sit in the same signs to the degree, the astronomy is correct on both sites and the gap comes from settings. If the planets themselves differ, one site has a time-zone or time-entry problem. Serious tools rely on a reference ephemeris such as Swiss Ephemeris.
